Jay tells of his life and experience serving onboard the Royal Yacht Britannia
Jay joined the navy in 1988 and served on HMS Ark Royal during the Gulf War in 1991. Seeking a new challenge, he made a decision that changed his life for ever and requested to be considered for Royal Yacht service. He was accepted and drafted to HMY Britannia in 1992. He remained a ‘Yottie’ until he left the navy, at the same time Britannia was decommissioned.

Come and join Toby, Osborne House’s Head Gardener, on his annual guided Spring Colour Tour of the flora of the Osborne Estate. (Meet at the green gate at 10.15 to be given your lanyard)
New for this year we are holding a Treasure Hunt around the grounds of Osborne which we hope will appeal to regular visitors and those who wish to discover areas and facts that they may not previously be aware of. This has been organised for the May half-term week so members with children can also join in the fun.

A chance to visit Barton Manor Gardens and Farm with a guided tour by Sarah Burdett.
This tour will include a walk down to the private beach to view the D Day Mulberry Harbor remains.
The tour will start at 3:00 pm to ensure that the beach is reached at low tide.
The walk to the beach will take approximately 20 minutes down a rough track, with an uphill walk on the way back.
This tour is limited to 25 members.

(Meet at the green gate at 10.20)
We will gather in the courtyard by the Education Rooms at 10.30 and split into two groups of 12. Each group will have a talk which will last about one hour. We will then meet for coffee and biscuits in the Education Rooms before allowing each group to visit the other venue.
Members need to wear sensible shoes. The terrace talks start on the top terrace going to the lower terrace and then around the borders. Frances will have details of the names of all the plants for those keen gardeners who may want...

Following the success of last year’s Buckingham Place trip with Opal Travel, a visit to Windsor Castle is planned.
The trip will include coach and ferry travel and entry into Windsor Castle. Members will have the opportunity to visit the State Apartments, Queen Mary’s Doll’s House and St. George’s Chapel . Allow about 1 and a half hours to 2 hours. There will be the opportunity to wander around the grounds and also Windsor town before heading back to Southampton to catch the ferry.
