Garden Tour

On Friday 8th, everyone enjoyed a tour of the Terraces and Walled Garden. As members came to the Education Rooms, for a half time refreshment, they were singing the praises of Frances and Cynthia who were conducting the tour.
Members said they had learnt so much.
There was historical information as well as information about the plants. Members learnt about Albert’s ideas and design of the Terraces and how water was channelled from Barton Manor for the fountains and reservoir.
Due to everything flowering much earlier than usual, the tulip display on the Terraces was finished, but there were other interesting borders to see and the rhododendrons on the way to the Walled Garden looked magnificent.
While the second group were on the Terraces, Frances had to alter her tour slightly as a film crew were there filming Lucy Worsley. For some reason they didn’t want FoO members in the shot!
This event was very popular; so Frances and Cynthia have kindly agreed to repeat it in July . We already have 8 people who have booked.
