A Yottie's Tail

Friday 17th April 2026

30 members attended the talk by Jay Sowerby about his time on HMY Britannia.  The called was called A Yottie's Tail.  Yes - yottie's had tails!

Everyone left saying how much they had enjoyed it. It was interesting and funny and gave us an insight into a very different world.

This snowman was built on the deck of Britannia when the ship was in New York. It was -16 degrees centigrade. Queen Elizabeth said a snowman had never been built on board. Jay and three others obliged and the Queen was delighted!
