Dimbola Lodge

Julia Margaret Cameron, a 18th century photographer transforming photography into her own art form, unique to her. Her work disregarded in history we now know as soft lens effect and ahead of her time.

Her many portraits include Alfred Lord Tennysons. Her close friend and neighbour who we found out had his own entrance to Dimbola.

Penny from Dimbola, gave us a very interesting talk about Julia, making her come to life with stories of kindness and generosity.  Julia's life experiences, travel, marriage, children and personality.

How lucky are to have Julia’s home Dimbola on the Isle of wight.

Thoroughly enjoyed the visit with much talk in the cafe after. May we continue to support Dimbola a charity like us.
